The Nature Coast Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society meets the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00pm at the Land O’ Lakes Community Center, 5401 Land O’ Lakes Blvd./US 41, Land O’ Lakes, 34639, between SR 52 and SR 54. The subject of the Tuesday, May 9, 2017 meeting is “Edible and Medicinal Uses of Native Plants” presented by herbalist Emily Ruff.
Enjoy an evening learning about the edible and medicinal plants growing all around us in Central Florida. Get to know the plants in our ecosystem and explore their ethnobotanical uses. This is a hands-on experience where tasting, smelling, and feeling is encouraged!
Emily is the Executive Director of the Florida School of Holistic Living. She studied ethnobotany, philosophy, and women’s studies at the University of Central Florida, founded the Florida Herbal Conference, and has served as president of the Herb Society of Central Florida.
Meetings of the Chapter are free, and all interested parties are invited to attend, to bring questions about their yard, and participate in light refreshments and the native plant drawing.
Telephone inquiries are taken by Sandy at (727) 207-1853. The Chapter website is http://www.pasconativeplants.org.
