The 2017 Lutz Guv’na Debate is scheduled for Saturday, May 20 from 2-4pm at the Old Lutz School, 18819 US Hwy. 41, Lutz, FL 33549. The annual Guv’na race is sponsored by the Lutz Civic Association. The Guv’na Race has donated more than $100,000 over the last 10 years to charitable organizations in Lutz. The Pasco County Chapter of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) offers two types of support group meetings each month, one for those living with mental illness and another for family and friends of those with mental illness. Local Resident Receives State Recognition

West Central volunteers make a big difference in the lives of long-term care residents, and one such volunteer recently received much-deserved recognition from the State’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program (LTCOP). The Florida Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program relies upon state-certified professional volunteers, known as ombudsmen, who advocate for the health, safety, welfare, and rights of individuals residing in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and adult family care homes. Ombudsmen work with residents, family members, administrators, and others to resolve complaints brought by, or on behalf of, long-term care residents in Florida. 7th Annual Westchase Easter Egg Hunt

Mark your calendars! The bunny is back in town! Last year, students from Alonso High School came together to coordinate the 6th Annual Westchase Easter Egg Hunt to benefit American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Together they raised $3300. Forced labor and human trafficking is a$150B industry globally with 20.9M victims worldwide, according to figures supplied by the International Labor Organization. Victims of human trafficking include children, women, and men who are subjected to sexual exploitation or forced labor through force, fraud, or coercion. The U.S. Department of Justice human trafficking task force reports 83% of sex trafficking victims identified in the United States are U.S. citizens with an average age of 12-14.
